Tooley Park Scribers
And how to win one.
NOTE: The deadline to enter the giveaway is midnight, April 29 (Eastern). We will draw the winner on April 30.
I spend a lot of my mental energy figuring out how to do more operations with fewer tools. I like a small tool kit – I use only three bench chisels – and I wish my kit was even smaller.
But sometimes I develop an affection for a specialty tool that I cannot explain. The Tooley Park FB Scriber is one of those tools. It has wormed its way into my toolkit, and I just love using it.
The scribers are made by one guy, furnituremaker Philip Sewell. And they work flawlessly, both for scribing stuff to irregular walls and leveling the legs of chairs and tables. The mechanism is simple. Everything locks positively. And the thing just works.
Recently I bought a couple more scribers (one in orange and one in blue) for Kale and Megan in our workshop. I’m happy to loan out my FB scriber, but I’m happier if they have their own. (I got an S+ in Sharing in kindergarten. But still… I’d hate to lose my scriber.)
Philip put an extra blue FB Scriber in the box before mailing it, which was too kind. Because we are “Never Sponsored,” we are giving the scriber away to one of the subscribers to this substack. If you would like to have one, simply leave a comment on this entry. We will select one person randomly and mail you the scriber.
It doesn’t matter where you live. We’ll send it to Antarctica if need be.
And if you don’t win the blue scriber, I definitely recommend you pick one up for your tool chest. You will not regret it.

Yes please, hoping to win!
I’d like to have a scriber if I win
