ToolCurve Dust Collection Adapters

If someone asked me what the stupidest thing is about the woodworking craft, I’d answer: dust collection hoses. There are no standards. And connecting one device to another is never easy.

In fact, there is an entire industry devoted to coupling “this tool” with “that dust collector.” Again, this is stupid. Dust collection hoses should be standardized – like electrical outlets.

Until they are, we are forever on a voyage of mating this 27mm opening to that 2” opening. And hoping the whole thing holds together when you turn on the vacuum.

Up until recently, my solution to most problems was hose clamps and duct tape.

A couple years ago, a student sent us an adapter from ToolCurve, a small operation in Medina, Ohio, that specializes in accessories for power tools. One of their many offerings are hose adapters that help you connect different brands of tools and dust collectors.

The student (Hi, Brian!), had taken a chair class from us and used our Makita + Festool setup for sanding. Thanks to hose clamps, the setup worked.
